Software Engineering: Effective Teaching and Learning Approaches and Practices

Content

The book is intended to contain a collection of best practices in the field of software engineering teaching and learning. The objective of the book is to provide guidance to educators that are are already teaching software engineering education or are considering establishing or expanding software engineering education within their institutions. The focus of the book will be on educational practices that have been demonstrated to be effective and supported by quantitative or strong qualitative data. The intent is to provide an understanding of the effective educational approaches used in software engineering education.

This book is envisioned to be divided into an Introduction section and six additional major sections, each of which addresses a major aspect of software engineering education:

Format

The book will include a minimum of 12 to 14 chapters equaling between 105,000 to 125,000 words in total. Chapter content must be original. All submissions must be in MS Word format. A double-blind review of drafts of the accepted chapters will be performed.

Notification to authors of proposal status January 15, 2007
Full chapters due May 30, 2007
Deadline for writing to authors about revisions September 15, 2007
Revised chapters due from authors November 15, 2007
Final copies and disks due from authors December 1, 2007
Ask authors for final changes December 15, 2007
Final copies due from authors December 30, 2007
Complete book due to publisher January 30, 2008
