Software Freedom Week @ Trinity
Due Date: Both essays (described below) are due by Monday, November 23 @ 5:00 PM.
This is Software Freedom Week
(SWF) @ Trinity, a week of activities to
celebrate and learn about the Free and Open Source Software movement.
It is sponsored by computer science students and the Humanitarian FOSS project. We will
diverge from our usual class room schedule to take advantage of some
of the activities going on this week.

Wednesday, 11/18
- Required: Wednesday 2:40 PM During today's class we will perform
an activity in connection with Software Freedom Week--details to be
determined.
- Required: Wednesday evening: Attend the 5:00 PM
Cinestudio showing of the documentary film, Revolution OS, about the
birth of the free software/open source software movement. Write a 300-400
word review of the film on "What I learned from this film about the
FOSS movement that I didn't already know" and post it on the FYSM
183 Moodle forum.
Thursday, 11/19
- Required: Thursday evening: Attend the Leslie Hawthorn
lecture on "Social Change Begins with Software," at 7:30 PM in the
Washington Room (PDF).
Write a 300-400 word reaction essay and post it on the FYSM
183 Moodle forum.
Friday 11/20: No class
